The
current parent list was not available, but a sign in sheet was passed around
and if anyone was new, they were asked to write down their contact
information. They will be added to the
current parent list.
Brent announced that no definitive date or location has been set for the
Prom for 2011, but Ms. Austin has some tentative dates; May 6th or
May 20th.
The
rubber wrist bands for our first fundraiser have come in.Brent passed around the samples. There is an all black, all yellow and a
striped one.The solid colors will sell
for $2.00 and the striped one for $3.00.This will be pure profit for PP2011 as they were graciously underwritten
by the Sandstrom and Nesloney families. (see attached flyer)
Karen Nesloney and Christine
Gonzales have agreed to sell these wristbands during lunch periods. A soon
as Brent can get a lunch schedule and get it cleared thru the office, they will
sit thru all lunches on any given day and sell. They will also be on sale at
the games and other events.
Party
on the Patio is set for Aug 20th from
3:30 to
5:00.PP2011 will have a table to pass out
information, get parents to sign up and to sell wristbands.Janice
Russell and Betty Arnold will be
in charge of setting this up.
It
was announced that Liz Bridges would
no longer be able to do the job of PP2011 secretary due to family illness. She will still be active but unable to
continue as secretary.Pam Krueger agreed to take over that
position.
Pam Krueger is also in charge of the PP2011 information packets.
These will be handed out on the 1st day of school thru the student’s
home room. This packet will include a letter to the parents, a planned
fundraiser sheet, and information regarding volunteer hours. (see attached
packet sample)
Sal Angel, our PP2011 webmaster, told us that the website is up
and running. The wristband flyer is also on the PP2011 website. The link from
the SW home page is not set up yet, but hopes for it to be done soon.We also have a page on Facebook.Sal alsograciously agreed to translate our
information on the webpage. We will not
translate our outgoing information etc, but it will be noted that translation
is available on the website.
Brent suggested that we try to work with and help support PP2010’s efforts so
they can share information about what worked and what didn’t as far as
fundraising.Gina Higganbottom (PP2010)
is hosting a BBQ cook off the weekend of Sept 18-19. This is one of their
fundraisers which has been successful so far.
Project
Prom usually sells the homecoming shirts in their senior year. However, PP2010 may not be doing it this
year.Since the blackout t-shirts and
hoodies have been so popular, they don’t feel it will be profitable enough to
do it.PP2011 may be able to take this
over this year. Ms. Austin is going
to check to make sure, but it’s very possible we will be able to do it.
Ms. Austin announced that she is planning on having an assembly
on Thursday, 8/27 for the 2011 class and will ask for input and ideas regarding
Prom and PP2011.
Christine Gonzalez is in charge of the garage sale fundraisers. These garage
sales are held 2x each year, in the fall and in the spring. As juniors this
year, we will be in the gold gym and be able to keep all profits made from both
of these garage sales. She is already getting items together. We were all asked to save our stuff or get
items donated. Her theme is “One man’s trash is PP2011’s treasure”.
Brent talked about the booster clubs tail gate parties. There are 2 scheduled for the fall. They will be on 9/25 and 11/6. The booster
club makes and sells most of the food.We can set up a booth to sell spirit times or whatever and keep what
ever we make. There will be all kinds of
school groups there, and hopefully a lot of people.
Other
possible fundraising ideas were discussed. Maybe gift wrapping at Barnes and
Noble or a tamale sale. Brent asked for more information and will report back
to the committee.
Patty Blome is in charge of the Casino Night fundraiser that will
be held in our senior year.It is
usually held at the beginning of the year in January.
The
next PP2011 meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept 21st at
6:30.
